Libra Dogs Sign

By Anna Lynn Sibal

Beware the eyes of the Libra dog when he wants something from his owner. Those eyes, when they stare out wide and pleading, are very hard to resist. His eyes are what the Libra dog uses in order to manipulate his owner into giving him what he desires willy-nilly, without any further fuss. Beware those eyes.

But despite his compulsion to cajole his owner into giving him what he wants, the Libra dog is otherwise a very charming dog. He can be called upon to entertain his owner and his owner’s friends without much need for persuasion, and while he does appreciate the attention, he does not actively seek it. Whether he gets it a lot or not much, he does not care. The Libra dog can shine brilliantly in the limelight, but he can live very well enough without it.

The Libra dog loves his creature comforts. Give him good food and lots of it, a soft and downy cushion for his rest, and a pat on the head every once in a while, and he is happy. The Libra dog, however, does not like being alone a lot, and he loves the company of other dogs very much. He is very friendly with other dogs, and he is quite gentle-mannered with them.

Another nice trait that is notable of the Libra dog is his cleverness and resourcefulness. If his favorite toy is way out of reach, he will find a way to get a-hold of it. If it so happened that there are vases and other breakable things blocking his way, his owner should be prepared to hear them crashing and clattering. To spare the trouble, the house should be proofed against the curious and careless Libra dog.

The one bad trait that the Libra dog has is that it is terribly stubborn, to the point that it can get ridiculous. If he does not want to do something in particular and he is resisting it with all of his might, he should not be forced to do it, unless of course it is something absolutely necessary, such as taking a bath or going to the vet.

The innate obstinacy and stubbornness of the Libra dog will come to fore this summer, when the feeling of restlessness seems to overtake him and make him full of nervous energy. This energy should be expended with frequent walks around the neighborhood or in dog parks, or probably with a weekend trip to the country wherein there are open grounds he can run around. In this period, he will hate his old routine so the time for his feeding and bathing and such should be changed, even if only slightly.

But this restlessness shall not last long. Come autumn and winter, this will be replaced by surly snobbishness and all that the Libra dog would want to do is to rest in his corner. He would want to be left alone and he would greatly resent any intrusion to his solitude.
